JAKARTA - Atlético Madrid has officially signed a player who helped Argentina win the 2021 Copa America, Rodrigo De Paul, from Udinese.

The Argentina international will join the Rojiblancos until 2026, just days after winning the Copa America with his country.
The transfer marks the first step for Diego Simeone's side in their bid to defend their La Liga title next season.

Speaking after completing his medical on Monday 13 July, the 27-year-old midfielder expressed his joy at joining the Spanish club.
"I am very happy, I will be joining a winning team and I am aware of the responsibility that must be carried out," De Paul said at the introduction as quoted by Reuters on Tuesday.
"This is a big step in my football career," continued the midfielder.
