To Be The Top Scorer For Euro 2020, Patrik Schick: I Don't Care, My Target Is To Help The Team

JAKARTA - Patrik Schick admits that his priority at Euro 2020 is to help the Czech Republic go as far as possible rather than the chance to become the tournament's top scorer.

Schick has so far managed to help the Czechs qualify for the quarter-finals through the four goals he has recorded.

The four-goal score is only one goal away from the leader of the temporary top scorer list, Cristiano Ronaldo. At the same time, Schick also had the opportunity to equal Milan Baros' record as the Czech's top scorer at the Euros with five goals which also became the top scorer in the 2004 edition.

The Bayer Leverkusen striker, however, insists these chances are not his priority, but helps the Czechs achieve the best possible results, including against Denmark in the quarter-finals in Baku on Saturday.

"That's not important to me, what matters is the success of the team," said Schick.

"My goal is not to win the Golden Boot, but to help the team go as far as possible.

"I don't care how many goals I score when it's all achieved," he added.

Schick scored twice as the Czechs won 2-0 over Scotland and contributed one more goal when they drew 1-1 with Croatia in Group D matches.

Schick then completed the Czech Republic's 2-0 win over the Netherlands in the last 16 and the 25-year-old forward's contribution is clearly expected to come back when Jaroslav Silhavy's side face Denmark.

If able to pass Denmark, the Czechs will face England or Ukraine in the semifinals.
