JAKARTA - The men's doubles Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin are confirmed not to be able to participate in the 2026 Singapore Open badminton event which will take place this week.

The BWF Super 750 level tournament will be held on May 26-31, 2026 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Raymond had knee problems so the coaching team decided not to register the pair.

Pelatnas PBSI men's singles coach, Antonius Budi Ariantho, said Raymond complained that his left knee was not feeling well in the last week.

"It has been tried to be treated and adjusted to the pattern of training, but yesterday at the last examination before departure, the condition still felt uncomfortable," said Anton in a statement received.

Raymond actually can still play, but it won't be optimal because certain movements are less free. This problem makes Anton forced to make a difficult decision to pull the pair.

Anton hopes that Raymond/Joaquin can recover in the following week to face the 2026 Indonesia Open which will take place on June 2-7, 2026 at Istora Senayan, Jakarta.

"Hopefully with the time that is left, my recovery and preparation I feel can be better at the Indonesia Open later," said Anton.

The retirement of Raymond/Nikolaus makes Indonesia's hopes for the men's doubles sector at the 2026 Singapore Open only rely on Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani.

Overall, Indonesia only sent eight representatives to Singapore. From the men's singles, PBSI also only sent two names to this event. The two names are Jonatan Christie and youth badminton player Alwi Farhan.

Then the only hope for the women's singles is on the shoulders of Putri Kusuma Wardani. The 23-year-old badminton player is ranked fifth and will face Pusarla V Sindhu from India in the first round.

The women's doubles also only have one representative for this tournament, namely Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti. The pair immediately faced a tough test when they met the first-seeded Liu Sheng Shu/Tan Ning from China.

The other two Indonesian representatives in the mixed doubles are Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja and Bobby Setiabudi/Melati Daeva Oktavianti. Both pairs will meet in the second round if they can both get through the first round.
