Tyson Fury is Very Confident of Carrying Out a Trilogy against Oleksandr Usyk

JAKARTA - British heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury is very confident of getting the opportunity to have a third fight (trilogy) against two-time undisputed heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk before the end of this year.

Fury had an unbeaten record before his last two fights against Usyk. Both matches ended in Usyk's victory, all of which were decided by the numbers.

The Gypsy King then decided to retire after his second defeat, but decided to come back again earlier this year. He is associated with a number of big fights and one of them is aiming for a trilogy against the Ukrainian champion.

"He [Usyk] will beg for a trilogy fight at the end of the year. There is no opponent to face to make money [in large amounts]. There is only the Gypsy King, the great champion," Fury said as quoted by Sky Sport.

Fury and Usyk first met in May 2024 to fight for the first undisputed heavyweight title in the era of four belts. Usyk finally became the first professional boxer to defeat Fury through the fight.

He then managed to repeat the feat in another fierce battle that took place in December 2024. The second victory made Usyk maintain his undefeated record.

Fury was so upset by the result of the second fight that it prompted him to retire from the sport a few weeks later. He insisted he would never return, but earlier this year he made a surprise announcement.

"Dick Turpin wore a mask when he robbed people. I was robbed in broad daylight when the whole world was watching," Fury said in response to the fight.

Usyk has so far shown no signs of playing the trilogy match. However, Fury is very confident that Usyk will look for him if he wants a big-money duel.

"With or without money, I'm still the one in power. With or without a championship belt, I'm still the one in power. You know why? Because I'm the biggest fish in this pond," he said.

Fury will fight again on April 11 against Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England. It's a match that will mark his comeback since losing to Usyk.

Makhmudov is a tough challenger with a good world ranking. Fury will aim for victory in the fight to pursue bigger fights and hunt for another world title.
