JAKARTA - Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo is confirmed to have to go through the rest of the 2026 MotoGP test at Sepang after an accident that broke his fingers.

Quartararo said that he had pain in his arm and broken fingers due to the accident he had so that passing the rest of the test was the best option for them.

"So, we have decided to stop for the next two days. I think it's for the best," he said as written by Crash.

The French racer had a quick crash at Turn 5 on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. The incident led him to be taken to the Medical Centre for examination.

The results of the examination found that he had broken his fingers. However, the 2021 world champion was able to return to the track in the afternoon before deciding to pass the rest of the test.

Dropping out in the remaining tests in Sepang means Quartararo has to wait until the next test which takes place in Buriram, Thailand, on February 21-22, 2026.

"Of course, if it's a weekend race then I can continue. However, there is no point in continuing for another two days," said the 26-year-old racer.

Yamaha is currently testing their new V4 bike to face the 2026 season competition which will start later this month. The bike is still far from what is expected to be competitive.

Quartararo had previously been linked with a move to rival team Honda next season. He was said to have made a deal, but he denied the rumor.
