Persija Jakarta Officially Signs Shayne Pattynama with a Contract Duration of 2.5 Years

Persija Jakarta officially added ammunition in the second round of the 2025/2026 Super League. Not to mention, the Kemayoran Tigers even recruited an Indonesian National Team player, Shayne Pattynama.

The official announcement of Shayne as a new player for Persija Jakarta was revealed by the club on Friday, January 23, 2026. In the contract, Shayne was offered a 2.5-year deal including an extension option.

Persija director, Mohamad Prapanca, welcomed Shayne's arrival with optimism. He believes that the player's experience on the field can be a real contribution to the club.

"Shayne is a figure with the experience we need. We believe his presence will make a real contribution, strengthening the quality of the game and the depth of the squad."

"His presence is part of Persija's vision to present a competitive, solid team, and ready to face every challenge this season with a champion mentality," said Prapanca in a statement quoted Friday, January 23, 2026.

On the other hand, the first day Shayne was present directly showed his passion to join Persija. He admitted that he was enthusiastic to be able to meet his personal target of helping the team become champions.

"I am very excited about this challenge. To be able to join a club as big as Persija is a pride for me. So, I am really very excited."

"The main target is of course to be champions. Our position in the standings is quite good and close to the top. Our goal is to win the league, win as many matches as possible, and show that Persija is a club that deserves to be a champion. I will fight and work hard to achieve it with the team," said the 27-year-old.

Shayne Pattynama was born in Lelystad, Netherlands, on August 11, 1998. He grew up in a strong European football tradition. His talent was honed from a young age with Ajax Youth and Utrecht Junior.

From there, Shayne built a foundation as a modern defender, strong, intelligent in reading the game, and brave to help the attack.

His professional career was first explored by Shayne while with Telstar (2019-2021), he then went further to Norway to defend Viking FK (2021-2024).

His career then continued to Belgium with KAS Eupen (2024-2025), before closing the European adventure and entering Southeast Asia with Buriram United (2025).

Together with Buriram, Shayne felt the atmosphere of the competition was also challenging. He appeared in three different events, six times in Thai League 1, once in the Thai FA Cup, and three times was trusted to appear in the AFC Champions League.

Not only at the club level, Shayne's contribution with the Indonesian National Team is also proof of his quality. He recorded nine appearances in the 2026 World Cup Qualification, appearing twice in international friendly matches, and one match in the Asian Cup.
