JAKARTA - The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) has decided to re-overhaul the main pair of the women's doubles sector by separating Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti and Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi/Lanny Tria Mayasari.
Women's doubles coach, Karel Mainaky, said that the two pairs could not show the results as expected throughout 2025 so that they could not be maintained.
"We have given Apri/Fadia and Lanny/Tiwi several matches, but the results are not satisfactory. I guess it can't be continued anymore," said Karel in a statement received.
In the new composition, Apriyani will be paired with Lanny and Amallia playing with Fadia. The combination was chosen based on the technical needs of each of them.
Karel said that Fadia needed a partner who had the strength to attack from behind, while Apriyani needed a partner who could rotate and have power.
"For the first match at least at the Indonesia Masters 2026, my hope is, yes, they can match or even if they can exceed the other two pairs that have made good progress," he said.
The other two pairs in question are Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Meilysa Trias Puspitasari and Rachel Allessya Rose/Febi Setianingrum.
Karel admitted that he was quite satisfied with the development of the two pairs after Rachel/Febi won the 2025 Australian Open Super 500 title and Febriana/Meilysa became runners-up.
"For the projection to the Asian Games (2026), I really want to encourage Rachel/Febi and Febriana/Meilysa. However, we also do not close the opportunity for these two new pairs if they can exceed why not," said Karel.
Currently, Amallia is still playing with Lanny. The pair will compete in the 2026 BWF India Open Super 750 event, which takes place this week.
