Officially A Persik Coach, Marcos Reina Is Challenged To Compete In The Super League

JAKARTA - Marcos Reina officially became the head coach of Persik Kediri on Friday, December 5, 2025, replacing Ong Kim Swee's position. With this new status, Reina admitted that she was challenged to bring her team to compete in the remainder of the 2025/2026 Super League season.

Quoted from the official I-League website, Marcos Reina realized that competition in the Super League competition was very tight and challenging. Therefore, he has also analyzed the strength of the opposing teams.

"The Indonesian league is very challenging for me as a coach. The character and atmosphere are also good. Of course this is different from the league of other countries where I've been there."

"Before coming to Persik Kediri, I certainly have to learn the performance of the teams in the Super League. I know which teams are usually at the top and the teams are currently struggling."

"So, I quite have an idea of how the existing Indonesian competition, supporters, and foreign players will be," said Reina, quoted on Friday, December 5, 2025.

Regarding the style of play he will apply to the Tigers, Marcos Reina admitted that he had prepared for it.

"I want to form a team that is more oriented towards possession of the ball. Persik Kediri has a good player. So, I'm sure that philosophy will be carried out by the players."

"We will make this team even more solid. I have seen the previous match. However, I must get to know more deeply and understand the quality of each player to the fullest," said Reina.

Before officially handling Persik Kediri, the 40-year-old coach had experience in various competitions outside Spain, such as Mexico, the United States, and Andorra.

Marcos Reina's last club was the FC Ranger's, who played in Andorra's highest-level league.

Marcos Reina is scheduled to start coaching Persik Kediri on December 8, 2025 when all the white Tiger players gather after a week off.

Persik Kediri's inaugural match with Marcos Reina is scheduled to travel to Persita Tangerang headquarters in the 15th week of the Super League at the Indomilk Arena Stadium, Tangerang on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at 15.30 WIB.
