JAKARTA The Indonesian contingent has set a target of getting 120 gold medals from the ASEAN Para-Games 2025 event which will take place early next year in Thailand.

The Minister of Youth and Sports (Mempora), Erick Thohir, conveyed the target after an audience with the General Chair of the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC), Senny Marbun, at the Kemenpora Office, Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday, November 10, 2025.

"For the 2025 ASEAN Para Games, the plan is to get 120 gold medals," Erick told the media after the hearing.

This target makes it a bit impossible for Indonesia to maintain the status of a general champion at the biennial multi-pronged sporting event for athletes with disabilities.

Erick said that Thailand as the host was very aggressive in pursuing the overall champion with an overview of their target of more than 174 gold medals.

"If you look at the map, the number two position (in the final standings of medals) is what we can target today," said Erick.

The Indonesian contingent for the 2025 ASEAN Para-Games underwent very short time preparations for approximately three months.

The national training camp (pelatnas) took place last month and will be held for the next two months. In total, there are 306 athletes from 18 sports that have been prepared.

"Hopefully we can maintain the target of 120 gold medals," said Chef de Mission (CdM) of the ASEAN Para-Games 2025 Contingent, Reda Manthovanani.

Indonesia previously always came out as the overall champion in the last two editions of the ASEAN Para-Games, namely in Surakarta 2022 (175 gold medals) and Cambodia 2023 (159 gold medals).
