Menpora Urges NOC Indonesia And KONI To End Four Sports Dualism

Menpora Erick Thohir urged the dualism of the federation management to be completed before the turn of the year (doc. Kemenpora).

JAKARTA - Menpora Erick Thohir encouraged the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI/NOC Indonesia) and the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) to immediately unravel the dualism of sports branches.

Currently, there are four dualisms in the management of sports (sports), namely table tennis, fencing, boxing, and soccer. This problem has even been going on for years.

"The problem of dualism must be resolved immediately. After that, then we can consolidate the Great Design of National Sports (DBON)," Erick said in a statement received.

Dualism in the above sports has a very bad effect, especially at the expense of athletes because they cannot bring the nation's name to compete in various international events.

The issue of dualism warmed up again last weekend after the Executive Board of the Indonesian Takraw Association (PB PSTI) held an Extraordinary National Conference (Munaslub).

The results of this activity were rejected by some of its members. They assessed that the process of the Munaslub for the new general chairman election for the 2025-2029 period was fully engineered and discriminatory by the Central KONI carateker team.

Erick urged KOI and KONI to immediately take a strategic role to be able to beat and encourage the resolution of disputes in the management of the four sports by deliberation and consensus.

"We at the Ministry of Youth and Sports have conducted introspection by improving internal governance. We want KOI, KONI, and sports federation administrators to also be able to do introspection," he said.

Erick gave the dispute resolution deadline no later than three months after the ultimatum was sent to four warring sports at the beginning of last month.

This means that KOI, KONI, and sports management have two months remaining. If it is not finished by the end of December 2025, the Ministry of Youth and Sports will take firm steps.

"Three months is enough time to resolve the dispute over the management of this sport. If it is not completed by the end of the year, then we, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, will take over."

"It has been too long since the athletes have been victims. So, I remind the parties to release their personal interests and egos for the glory of our sport," said Erick.
