JAKARTA Three Indonesian women's singles who fought in the first round of the 2025 Badminton World Championships or the 2025 World Junior Championships won all compactly.

The event which took place at the National Center of Excellence, Guwahati, India, officially took place on Monday, October 13, 2025. Indonesian representatives also participated after last week's struggle in the mixed team number.

One of the women's singles who managed to secure the ticket to the second half was Oei Louisa Jovanka Sandi Winarto. Oei qualified for the second round after beating Thi Thu Huyen Nguyen from Vietnam with a score of 15-7, 10-15, and 17-15.

"The match was quite tense because the first set was able to win. In the second set, because it was constrained by wind adjustment, so it turned out to be dead and lost," said Oei.

The 15-point system per game in this individual number is the latest rule used by BWF. This format is fairly short so it will test consistency and reduce athlete fatigue.

Previously in the mixed team number last week, BWF also implemented a new 3 x 45 system. In this sector, Indonesia came out as runner-up after losing against China in the final.

"With this 15-point system, the game is short. So, there must be a lot of warm-up so that on the field it is ready immediately," said Oei.

In the second half, Oei will face Portugal's women's singles, Maribel Sousa, who qualified for the second round of the tournament without breaking a sweat due to an empty draw.

"For the preparation in the next round, of course I want to play even better, it's even safer, we can continue to control our emotions so that we can overcome tensions and be more confident," said Oei.

Apart from Oei, Wening Arviani Sabrina and Salsabila Amiradana also got tickets for the second half. In a row they stopped Kim Bo-hye (South Korea) andOR Quarcoo from Ghana.

The third victory made the Indonesian women's singles all safe. One ticket to the other second half belonged to Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan who got an empty draw in the first half.
