Handezka Vaktorias, A Month Moving Sports Branch Immediately Surprises

Handezka Vaktorias won a bronze medal at the 2025 World Youth and Junior Sambo Championship (VOI/Cosmas Kopong Beda).

JAKARTA Handezka Vaktorias made a surprise. After a month of changing sports (sports), he immediately won a bronze medal at the 2025 World Youth and Junior Sambo Championship.

The 2005-born athlete won a bronze medal from the men's 64 kg sambo junior class after recording one win and one loss on Friday, October 3, 2025.

"Receiving a bronze medal is actually not a target. This is a surprise," he told the media before the opening ceremony of JSI Resort Convention Hall Megamendung, Bogor, West Java.

Handezka started the competition with a landslide victory over Morocco's Wail Laarif athlete. This victory led Handezka to advance to the semifinals to meet the Prophet Dzhabrailov from Turkmenistan.

Handezka showed tight resistance against Dzhabarilov. However, in that duel Handezka had to admit his opponent's advantage with a narrow score of 0-1 only.

Despite being bronze, this achievement is a proud achievement. The reason is, he was previously a wrestling athlete and only met samba a month ago ahead of the World Championships in Bogor.

Handezka admitted that having been in wrestling for 11 years and then moving on to sambo was not an easy matter. He emphasized that the two were very different.

"If there are no punches in wrestling, while in sambo, I play in combat, which uses punches, kicks, locks, yes, that's the difference," he said.

Other host athletes got different results. One of them is Rahma Halizah in the class -59 kg sport sambo for young women was able to make an encouraging debut after winning 4-0 over Jade Claassen (Netherlands).

Unfortunately, in the next step he lost to Carla Albitos (Spain) and in the repechage phase Rahma was silenced by Violetta Kumechko (Uzbekistan).

Furthermore, in the class -80 kg, Nabila Ramadhani who lost to Madina Suleimanova (FIAS1) in the first half also had to admit the superiority of Eka Zamtarashvili (Georgia) in repechage.
