Menpora Officially Revokes Permenpora Number 14 Of 2024

JAKARTA - The Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Menpora RI), Erick Thohir, officially revoked Permenpora Number 14 of 2024 concerning the Management Standards for Sports Organizations Covering Achievement Sports.

Erick made the decision to withdraw it at a press conference that took place at the Media Center of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

Erick said that this decision was made after hearing various inputs from stakeholders in the world of sports as well as parties who understand the law.

"Therefore, we decided to revoke it. This is in line with the Olympic Charter and is in line with orders from the President," said the Menpora at a press conference.

Permenpora Number 14 of 2024 concerning the Management Standard of Sports Organizations of Sports Scope Achievement was signed by the previous Menpora, Dito Ariotedjo, on October 18, 2024.

The presence of this regulation had caused polemics among sports players because it was considered not in line with the Olympic Charter (Olympic Charter) and intervened too much in the role of sports organizations.

Erick hopes that the revocation of this rule can pave the way for the Ministry of Youth and Sports, sports, the Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia), and the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) to introspect.

"Dualism, policies that harm athletes, all of this must be done together for the comprehensive improvement that we aspire to together today and in the future," said the former Minister of SOEs.

One of the problematic articles of Permenpora is the provision that the congress or deliberation of sports organizations can now only be held after obtaining ministerial recommendations, including changes to the articles of association and household budget (AD/ART).

In addition, this rule also states that the minister has the authority to provide recommendations to the relevant ministries to cancel management results if there is a dispute and can form a transition team if conflicts hinder athlete coaching.
