Mancheter United Loans Sancho One Step Again To Aston Villa, Outside Negotiations Emiliano Martinez

JAKARTA - Jadon Sancho almost confirmed his move to Aston Villa on loan for one season from Manchester United.

In ESPN's report, the deal with Aston Villa for Sancho was separate from negotiations surrounding the possible transfer of goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez to Old Trafford.

Sancho has the potential to become a free agent next summer even though Manchester United has the option to extend its contract for 12 months until 2027.

The 25-year-old has not featured for the Red Devils since August 2023 after a dispute with Manager Erik ten Hag.

He spent the second half of the 2023/2024 season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, helping the Bundesliga club reach the Champions League final.

After negotiating with Ten Hag, he returned to Manchester United's main squad and became part of the group that left for the United States for the club's pre-season tour in 2024.

However, Sancho was then loaned to Chelsea on the final day of the 2024/2025 summer transfer market.

He played 41 times for Chelsea last season, but they finally canceled an agreement to make his status permanent and were forced to pay a fine to Manchester United.

The Briton has been linked with a move to AS Roma and Juventus this summer, but looks set to stay in the Premier League alongside Aston Villa.

Talks between Manchester United and Aston Villa are not just about Sancho. The Red Devils are also exploring the possibility of recruiting Emiliano Martinez.

Manchester United are interested in recruiting goalkeepers before the deadline for Monday, September 1, 2025, local time.

Contacts have also been made with Royal Antwerp regarding the deal for 23-year-old goalkeeper Senne Lammens. However, club officials also continued to monitor Martinez's situation after his loan offer was rejected by Villa in early summer.

Manchester United have stepped up their efforts to bring in new goalkeepers after Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir experienced a less consistent start to the season.

Although finally Manchester United signed a new goalkeeper, Onana reportedly did not expect to leave Old Trafford before the transfer market ended.
