Chelsea Almost Achieved An Agreement With Garnacho

JAKARTA - Chelsea are close to reaching an agreement with Alejandro Garnacho after increasing negotiations with Manchester United over a transfer of 40 million pounds (around Rp882 billion).

Garnacho, who has been told he can leave Old Trafford this summer, has not appeared in Ruben Amorim's team since late last season.

He was also not included in the pre-season tour to the United States to train with his marginalized teammates, such as Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Mariju Malacia, and Antony.

Although Rashford completed a one-season loan to Barcelona last month, Manchester United have not managed to release their other exiles.

Garnacho refused to move to Bayern Munich earlier this month after confirming that he simply wanted to leave Old Trafford for Chelsea.

The Blues have expressed interest in recruiting Garnacho in the January 2025 transfer window, but the deal failed to materialize.

According to ESPN, Chelsea previously wanted to recruit the 21-year-old early this summer, but Enzo Maresca's side were only willing to pay 30 million pounds for Garnacho. Meanwhile, the Red Devils set the player's price at 50 million pounds.

Chelsea's interest has recently been hampered by their efforts to speed up the process of transferring players to comply with UEFA sanctions that forced the club to balance finances by releasing a number of players from the squad, especially Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson.

Negotiations between Manchester United and Chelsea have now been followed up with deals worth between 35 million pounds and 40 million pounds. While no agreement has yet been reached, negotiations continue and transfers can be completed before the transfer deadline on September 1, 2025.
