Inter Will Not Give Up On Martinez Release Clause

JAKARTA - Inter Milan hopes to get the services of the Barcelona duo; Nelson Semedo and Carles Alena as part of Lautaro Martinez's transfer deal to Camp Nou. Sky Sports reports that the Italian giants also asked Brazilian player Arthur Melo, but Los Blaugrana rejected the proposal.

The news follows similar reports in Gazzetta dello Sport this week claiming Inter will not succumb to Martinez's 111 million euros release clause but may be willing to accept a swap deal from Barcelona.

A report in Diario Sport last month spoke of the Blaugrana willing to use Arturo Vidal as a smoothman in a deal for the Argentina forward. Vidal is said to have a transfer range of between 15-20 million euros.

The Chilean midfielder has only started 13 games in all competitions for Barca despite scoring in six different games in La Liga to date. Reportedly, he is interested in moving to the Nerazzurri to get more playing time.

But Mundo Deportivo claims, if Martinez fails to sign, Barca have made Timo Werner a backup option. Although the main hope of the Catalan club is still Martinez.

It is common knowledge that Martinez is the target of the hunt for big European clubs. He has scored 16 goals in 31 appearances for Inter this season. In particular, he has impressed in European competitions, scoring five of the six games in the Champions League.

The Argentine national player was recruited by Inter from Racing Club in July 2018 for a dowry of 22.7 million euros. His current contract is valid until June 2023.
