PSSI Chairman Condolences For The Passing Of IGK Manila: Memories Of Cooperation In Persija

PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir recalled the moment he worked with IGK Manila at Persija Jakarta (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - One of Indonesia's sports figures, I Gusti Kompyang (IGK) Manila passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 08.59 WIB.

A number of condolences poured in from Indonesian sports players, including the Chairman of PSSI, Erick Thohir.

"I lost a loyal friend and mentor and hard worker. We worked together at Persija and brought in the 2001 champions."

"He also contributed when he was the manager of the Indonesian national team when he won the SEA Games in 1991."

Erick Thohir, who has been synonymous with Persib Bandung (President Commissioner of PT Persib Bandung with dignity from 2009-2019), apparently had an important role in Persija Jakarta.

When IGK Manila was appointed as Persija Manager in 1997, Erick Thohir supported the capital club's financial needs, from purchasing players to other operations.
