JAKARTA - Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton hopes to get some clarity on his future with Mercedes for 2022 at the summer break.

Hamilton alluded to his contract Sunday after claiming the 98th victory of his career and fifth in a row at the Spanish Grand Prix.

"Regarding the contract, we never wanted to be in our position as in January-February, it ruined my whole winter," Hamilton was quoted as saying by AFP.

"I'm sure Toto (Wolff/Mercedes boss) won't be helped by holidays or relaxing. We don't seem to have enough pauses."

Hamilton's contract extension, which is due to be completed by the end of 2021, was announced in February this year.

"Normally we don't have to rush but I think we have to be thoughtful and start talks," he added.

'It's all very complex, the procedure is never simple and hopefully we can start soon, as long as this doesn't interfere with the task, we still have 19 races.

"But it would be nice to finish it before the break and have a clear picture of the future."
