Fiorentina Injures Lazio's Chances Of Approaching The Top Four

JAKARTA - Fiorentina injured Lazio's chances of approaching the top four of the Italian League standings after beating their guests 2-0 in the 35th match at the Artemio Franchi Stadium, Firenze, Saturday local time (Sunday, May 9 western Indonesia time).

Lazio failed to reply to the two goals Dusan Vlahovic put against them, so that Simone Inzaghi's team failed to add to the 64 points they have in sixth place.

As a result, Lazio is still five points behind the top four of the standings and their hopes of reaching the Champions League next season are in danger of being lost.

As for Fiorentina (38), the victory saw them move up to 13th extending a safe distance of seven points from the red zone, according to the Italian League official website.

Lazio actually appeared to dominate more than 70 percent of the ball during the match, but their finish in 11 attempted shots was fruitless.

Fiorentina first threatened in the 10th minute through Gaetano Castrovilli's shot which unfortunately goalkeeper Pepe Reina was still able to secure it.

A minute later, it was at the other end of the field it was Bartlomiej Dragowski's turn to make a save on Joaquin Correa's dangerous shot.

In the 32nd minute, Fiorentina takes the lead when Cristiano Biraghi's cross is finished with a close-range shot by Vlahovic to beat Reina.

Lazio came close to equalizing late in the first half with a corner, but Sergej Milinkovic-Savic's header still went over the bar.

Lazio's efforts to score a return goal during the second half never came to fruition, instead, Vlahovic scored his second goal by heading in Erick Pulgar's corner to seal a 2-0 win for Fiorentina a minute before the break.

Extra time lasted for six minutes and in the fifth minute, Lazio lost Andreas Pereira who received a second yellow card.

In the next match, Fiorentina will visit the Sardegna Arena to face Cagliari on Tuesday (11/5) the day before Lazio host Parma at the Olimpico. This was reported by Antara.
