Menpora Confident Indonesia U-23 Beat Vietnam U-23 In The 2025 AFF U-23 Final

Menpora Dito Ariotedjo is optimistic that Indonesia U-23 will win the 2025 AFF U-23 Cup (doc. Kemenpora).

JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Dito Ariotedjo, confident that Indonesia U-23 could beat Vietnam U-23 in the 2025 AFF U-23 Cup final match tonight.

The top match between Vietnam and Indonesia U-23 will take place at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 20.00 WIB.

Dito refused to predict the final score of the match, but had full confidence that Gerald Vanenburg's Garuda Muda squad would lift the trophy.

"Obviously, this is because of the final, I always stick to the words of Deputy Minister Taufik Hidayat, there is only one champion. So, we hope that Indonesia U-23 can win," said Dito in Senayan.

Indonesia U-23 started its journey as winners of Group A from three matches. At that stage, Garuda Muda secured two wins and one draw.

Victory was won against Brunei Darussalam U-23 (8-0) in the first match and the Philippines U-23 (1-0) in the second match. The draw was won against Malaysia U-23 (0-0) in the group's last match.

Indonesia U-23 then underwent a dramatic match against Thailand U-23 in the semifinals. The winner of the clash was determined on penalties after a 1-1 draw for 120 minutes.

He further said that there was no appreciation in the form of bonuses for the slick journey of the U-23 Indonesian national team. However, the Ministry of Youth and Sports will continue to support all coaching programs.

"Because this is a single event, of course what the Ministry of Youth and Sports can provide is coaching and programs to strengthen the junior national team," he said.

Vietnam has the status as the ruler of the most titles from the previous four editions. They were recorded as two-time champions, all of which were won in the last two editions.

Meanwhile, two other titles were secured by Thiland in the first editions of 2005 and Indonesia in the 2019 edition which took place in Cambodia.
