JAKARTA The VIII 2025 National Community Sports Festival (Fornas) which will take place in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) will involve more than 20 thousand public sports activists from all over Indonesia.

The biennial public sporting event is scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 1, 2025. This will be the stage of sport tourism, culture, and the spirit of nationality.

Deputy Chairperson of the NTB Provincial DPRD, Lalu Wirajaya, said that Fornas is not just a sporting event, but is also a momentum to revive the local economy as a whole.

"This is not just an event, but also a golden opportunity that we must manage smartly. The National Forum unites sports, culture, and local economics from villages to cities," he said.

This year's Fornas VIII event is confirmed to be the most inclusive and comprehensive. Later, activities will spread across seven regencies/cities in NTB, especially Lombok Island, as well as the potential for expansion to the Sumbawa and Bima regions.

In detail, the accommodation sector is estimated to account for Rp30 billion, food and beverages Rp21 billion, local transportation Rp10 billion, and souvenir spending of Rp6 billion.
