China Open 2025: Rehan/Gloria Get First Ticket

Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja managed to get through the first round of the 2025 China Open (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA Mixed doubles Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja became Indonesia's first representative to reach the second round of the 2025 China Open.

They only had a 31-minute match when they met Ashith Surya/Amrutha Pramuthesh (India) which ended with a score of 21-12 and 21-17 on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

"Alhamdulillah, we were able to win the match without injury. In the round of 16, we will try again, play optimally," Rehan said after the match.

In the second round, Rehan/Gloria will face the eighth seed from Japan, Hiroki Midorikawa/Natsu Saito.

Rehan/Gloria's recent appearance is stagnant. Despite successfully passing the first round of three of the last four tournaments before China, their journey always ran aground in the second half.

Results started from the China Taipei Open, Singapore Open, and Japan Open 2025. Meanwhile, while playing at the Indonesia Open 2025, they immediately lost in the first round.

"We hope, pray we can make a surprise in this tournament," said Gloria.

Before them, Putri Kusuma Wardani had already experienced failure. The 22-year-old badminton player lifted the first suitcase after losing against Sim Yu-jin.

The defeat left the Indonesian women's singles hoping for Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, who has just played her second tournament in China after being absent since April 2025.
