Jens Raven Doesn't Want To Shine Alone, Calls Collectivity The Key To Scoring Many Goals

Jens Raven bought six goals in the U-23 Indonesian national team's victory against Brunei Darussalam (VOI/Karisa Aurelia Tukan).

JAKARTA - The U-23 Indonesian national team striker, Jens Raven, proved his quality while defending the team in the 2025 AFF U-23 Cup. The 19-year-old player became the winning star by scoring six goals in the match against Brunei Darussalam at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

In the inaugural match of Group A of the 2025 AFF U-23 Cup, the U-23 Indonesian national team won 8-0. In that match, six of the eight goals created were contributed by Jens Raven. While the other two points were contributed by M. Rayhan Hannan and Arkhan Fikri.

This big victory will certainly be a valuable asset for Indonesia, which will face the Philippines in the second match, Friday, July 18, 2025, in the same place.

Raven expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance, especially in the first half which he judged went very well.

Even so, he emphasized that his productivity scored goals thanks to the collectivity of the game.

"In the first half, we played very well. We kept the ball moving, passes and moves, and you can see we played at a good level, as the coach said," Jens Raven was quoted as saying on Thursday, July 17, 2025.

Responding to his brilliant individual performance, Raven did not want to be happy. He emphasized that his main focus was to help the team.

"Right now, my focus is entirely on this tournament. This is not the right time to discuss other things including the club. I want to focus on helping the team reach the highest level," he said.

Meanwhile, in the match against Brunei Darussalam, Jens Raven suffered an injury in the second half.

However, he could not be replaced because the replacement quota had run out. This situation made the attacker play while holding back the pain.

At some point, he couldn't even catch the ball. However, he made sure his condition remained good and he tried to appear professional.

"It's just cramps in both legs, nothing more than that. We don't have a substitute anymore."

"So I stayed on the pitch while the coach was watching. I finished the match, as you can see. But, don't worry, there's no problem," he said.

With impressive results in the inaugural match, the U23 Indonesian national team is now at the top of Group A.

The match against the Philippines will be the next test on Garuda Nusantara's journey to win a ticket to the knockout phase of the 2025 AFF U-23 Cup.
