Indonesia U-23 National Team Coach Praises SUGBK Grass Conditions Ahead Of The U-23 AFF Cup

The U-23 Indonesian national team coach, Gerald Vanenburg, is satisfied with the preparation of the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium as the host of the 2025 AFF U-23 Cup (Instagram/@geraldvanenburgofficial).

JAKARTA - The U-23 Indonesian national team coach, Gerald Vanenburg, praised the grass conditions of the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) which is ready to be used during the 2025 AFF U-23 Cup.

This was revealed by Gerald while accompanying the team in a training camp (TC) at the Madya Stadium, Senayan, Jakarta on Monday, July 14, 2025. This agenda is the final preparation before facing Brunei Darussalam in the inaugural match on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

"I think the condition (SUGBK formula) is perfect, very good," said Gerald at Jakarta on Monday, July 14, 2025.

Vanenburg made a positive statement about the SUGBK grass after he attended the inaugural match of the 2025 President's Cup with several Garuda Muda players.

"I think the field is ready because they (managers) are indeed preparing it well," he said.

However, Gerald did not decorate the less good grass until the weather conditions in Indonesia. According to him, this is good for Jens Raven and friends to practice.

"In the end, we have to accept it as it is, but I think this is a good place with good hot weather to train players. So far they have been training well, we are happy with that," said Gerald.

The 2025 AFF U-23 Cup will start from 15-29 July 2025 with Indonesia as the host. This agenda takes place at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta, and Patriot Chandrabhaga Stadium, Bekasi.
