PSSI Prepares Selection Of The U-16 Indonesian Women's National Team For The AFF Cup And Asian Cup Qualification

PSSI is looking for players for the U-16 Indonesian Women's National Team from the 2025 U-16 Pertiwi Cup (doc. PSSI).

JAKARA - Chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI), Erick Thohir, said that the federation is preparing for the selection process for the formation of the Indonesian Women's U-16 National Team (Timnas) to compete in two important events this year.

The two events in question are the 2025 U-16 Women's AFF Cup in August 2025 and the 2026 U-17 Women's Asian Cup Qualification which is scheduled to run in September 2025.

This selection will refer to the best performance of the players competing in the 2025 2025 Hydroplus Pertiwi Cup, a tournament that is an important milestone in the development of young women's soccer.

Of the 1,000 participants who took part in the tournament, around 400 players have been caught and are considered to have the potential to take part in the follow-up selection.

"The 2025 Pertiwi U-16 Cup is not only a forum, but also a gateway to the formation of a strong, characterless national team, and represents the spirit of Indonesian women's soccer," said Erick Thohir in Jakarta, Saturday, July 12, 2025.

PSSI emphasized that the selection process will take place comprehensively and objectively, involving experienced coaches and technical teams to form a young squad that is not only competitive in the ASEAN region, but also appears confident at the Asian level.

"This is our momentum to continue to build a strong level of coaching. We want young women players to know that dreams of becoming part of the national team are not wishful thinking, but real and measurable goals," said the chairman of PSSI.
