Kylian Mbappe Cancels Legal Process Against PSG

Kylian Mbappe withdrew the legal report against PSG regarding moral harassment (doc. Real Madrid).

JAKARTA - Kylian Mbappe has canceled the legal process he started this year against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for moral harassment.

In an Associated Press report, the Paris Prosecutor's Office last month said Mbappe accused PSG of filing the law and opening an investigation.

A person close to Mbappe said on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, local time that Mbappe's decision to end the legal procedure was due to a desire to make peace with his former club.

The source further said the end of the criminal process did not affect the ongoing procedures before an industry court. However, the person is not authorized to speak in public and provide further information.

As is known, the Real Madrid player clashed with PSG. He argued PSG owed him 55 million euros (61 million US dollars) in unpaid wages.

Mbappe's relationship with PSG ended amid deep tensions. Some supporters ridiculed him in his last home game at the Parc des Princes.

PSG felt let down by Mbappe after offering him the most lucrative contract in the club's history when he signed a new contract in 2022.

However, Mbappe surprised PSG in June 2023 by telling the club he would not be taking the option for another year.

With his contract effectively entering the last year, it put PSG in a position to sell Mbappe's contract to avoid losing him for free when his contract expires.

His career at PSG could end that summer amid a tense transfer deadlock.

After telling the club he would not renew his contract, Mbappe finally did not participate in the pre-season tour to Japan and South Korea and was forced to train with suburban players.

PSG said it was better to move it than to let the player leave for free in 2024, but he refused a 300 million euro move to Saudi Arabia's Pro League team, Al Hilal.

PSG also backed Mbappe up in the opening league game of the season, but he soon returned to the line-up after talks.

That situation has led Mbappe to accuse Paris Saint-Germain of moral harassment, condemning that the club was "lofting".

The word "lofting" is used in France to describe practices involving the isolation of players from the main squad for sports, administrative, or disciplinary reasons.

Mbappe was unhappy with the way the Ligue 1 club treated him when he was ruled out before the 2023/2024 season - following his decision not to extend the contract - which eventually led him to take legal action this spring.

However, according to Mbappe's representative report, the relationship between Mbappe and PSG President Nasser Al Khelaifi has improved over the past few weeks.

Mbappe joined Real Madrid last summer on a free transfer after setting a club record of 256 goals in seven years at PSG.

He faces his former club in the semi-finals of the 2025 Club World Cup on Thursday, July 10, 2025, which ended in a landslide 0-4 defeat.
