JAKARTA - Arsenal have completed the recruitment of the Spanish National Team (Timas) midfielder, Martin Zubimendi, from Real Sociedad.
The north London club beat opponents from top European clubs after activating Zubimendi's 60 million euros release clause.
The 26-year-old's contract at Sociedad expires in June 2027.
According to ESPN reports, Real Madrid tried to sign Zubimendi when Xabi Alonso replaced Carlo Ancelotti in May 2025, but an agreement with Arsenal was reached in March 2025.
Zubimendi had the opportunity to move to the Premier League a year ago after becoming Liverpool's top choice on the line. However, he refused the transfer and chose to stay at Sociedad for the 2024/2025 season, a decision he later said was the right decision.
