JAKARTA - The Indonesian Women's National Team started their struggle in the 2026 Women's Asian Cup Qualification on Sunday, June 29. In this effort, the chairman of PSSI, Erick Thohir admitted that he did not want to put too much pressure.

Entered in the 2026 Women's Asian Cup Qualification Group, the Indonesian Women's National Team will meet Kyrgyzstan in the inaugural match. This agenda will be held at the Indomilk Arena Stadium, Tangerang at 20.00 WIB.

Not only against Kyrgyzstan, the struggle of the Indonesian Women's National Team to secure tickets for the 2026 Women's Asian Cup is also quite difficult because it will also challenge the Pakistan National Team and the Taiwan National Team.

Although there are a number of tough opponents that must be faced, Erick Thohir does not want to think far. He said that the most important thing is that the Garuda Pertiwi squad can maximize itself in every match.

Erick Thohir also explained that PSSI did not want to put pressure on the squad and team officials by having a big target.

"But we're back, don't think too much. We have a match tomorrow (against Kyrgyzstan). Especially from the average age of our team, it's 22 years old," said Erick Thohir, quoted on Sunday, June 29.

"So yes, I don't want to put pressure on it, even though the management of the women's national team has a target. Of course I'm happy if I can achieve the target," he continued.

To be able to confirm tickets, Garuda Pertiwi must be able to win the Group D title. Regarding this matter, Erick admitted that it was not easy, especially since he thought Taiwan was the toughest opponent.

"We have three games tomorrow. Against Kyrgyzstan, then against Pakistan on the 2nd (July) yes on the 5th (July) it's the tough one against Taiwan. Indeed, this is only the best one who can get to the Asian Cup,"

"So this is also history for them if they can qualify and history also makes Indonesian football, never our sons and daughters enter the Asian Cup," he continued.
