Juventus Qualifies For The Last 16, Kenan Yildiz: I Scored Hattrick Not Two Goals

JAKARTA - Juventus confirmed their qualifying for the last 16 of the 2025 Club World Cup after a 4-1 win over Wydad Casablanca at the Lincoln Financial Field Stadium, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Sunday, June 22, 2025 evening WIB. Young star Kenan Yildiz managed to buy two goals, but he believes he scored a hat trick.

Yildiz scored a brace and played a role in Juve's first goal due to defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil's own goal. This big win confirmed Juve's position at the top of the standings.

Previously, the Italian Serie A giant beat Al-Ain 5-0 which made Juve one of the strong favorites in the Club World Cup.

Now, Juve pocketed the sixth point that led Igor Tudor's team to qualify for the last 16. They are also the most productive team in the group stage by scoring nine goals after Bayern Munich has scored

Meanwhile, Wydad, who has not yet reached the point, is almost certain to be eliminated. Previously, this Morocco club had to admit the superiority of Manchester City 2-0.

In that match, Juve showed dominance over the opponent. Just six minutes into the game, Juve took the lead when Boutouil scored an own goal. The goal started with Yildiz's strike which then hit Boutouil so the ball turned slightly. As a result, goalkeeper Mehdi Benabad was fooled and helpless as the ball slid into his goal.

Although Yildiz celebrated the goal, the referee declared it an own goal. Not long after, Yildiz finally broke into Wydad's goal. This time, he fired into the top right corner of the goal without Benabad's reach which changed the score to 2-0 in the 16th minute.

The conceding of two goals did not make Wydad give up. They tried to get up to put pressure on them. Their efforts finally paid off when Thembinkosi Lorch completed assist Nordin Amrabat to beat Michele goalkeeper Di Gregorio in the 25th minute.

The score changed to 2-1. The goal received a welcome from supporters Wydad who celebrated it by lighting a Acne. As a result, the match was stopped for a while while waiting for the smoke to disappear. There were no additional goals when the game continued until the first half was over.

"They said I scored two goals. But I actually scored a hat-trick and not two. I scored the first goal but then turned the way. The first goal should have been mine. Of course I hope the goal status is changed," said Yildiz.

"Meanwhile, the second goal, in my opinion, was the best in my career. When I fired, I did think this would be a slick goal. Whatever I thank my teammates. We must also be able to continue to advance," he said.

Meanwhile, Tudor said that this match was different compared to when facing Al-Ain. According to him, the success of scoring in the early minutes really helped the team win the match.

"It's a different game when we talk about speed and time. We scored in the early minutes, but in football you still have to be careful and vigilant, whatever the result," said Tudor, who did not hesitate to praise Yildiz's performance.

"He has strong quality, speed and mentality. He himself decided how far he continued to play. He was indeed our golden boy," he said.
