JAKARTA - After Formula 1, NASCAR, and IndyCar, now it is Formula E's turn to launch an electric racing series entitled Race at Home Challenge, Wednesday, April 15 yesterday. This virtual race was held to fill the void in the race calendar affected by the corona virus pandemic

Launching The Verge, Thursday, this virtual race will involve regular riders and gamers in the esports competition. Participants will compete using the rFactor 2 simulator software from their respective homes in a battle royale format where the racer who finishes in the last rank in each round will be eliminated until the remaining 10 players are eligible for the final sprint to finish.

There will be two separate races, one for the team and regular riders while the other for gamers and influencers.

The series is scheduled to be held every Saturday for a nine-week period, starting with a zero-score test event on April 18 at 9:30 p.m. WIB.

"I think it's great to be racing with them again, my rivals, of course from home," said team rider DS Techeetah and standings leader Antonio Felix Da Costa.

Fans can watch the virtual race live each week via the Formula E social media platform on YouTube, Facebook, Twitch and Twitter.

Formula E's virtual racing series also aims to raise funds for UNICEF. This follows up on the partnership they previously assembled in protecting children and families who are vulnerable to COVID-19.

Later, the funds raised from the competition will be channeled by UNICEF to a number of programs such as implementing remote learning or distance learning, and providing medical equipment to protect hospital staff who are at the forefront.
