2025 Sudirman Cup: Indonesia Gilas India 4-1

Indonesia managed to beat India 4-1 in the second match of the 2025 Sudirman Cup group (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA Indonesia managed to secure a convincing 4-1 victory over India in the second match of the 2025 Sudirman Cup Group D preliminary round.

In the match which took place at the Fenghuang Gimnasium, Xiamen, China, on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, Indonesia was forced to rise from the defeat of the first party to seal victory.

Indonesia, which fell with ambition to win, rotated all compositions in the five sectors that previously went down against England and managed to win with a landslide score of 5-0.

One-one point that Indonesia failed to secure against India was in the mixed doubles number Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja.

The pair suffered a rubber game defeat against the Dhiruv Kapila/Tanisha Crasto pair after successfully securing the first game.

Indonesia then equalized through Putri Kusuma Wardani who took part in the second party. The 22-year-old badminton player locked the two-game victory against Pusarla V Sindhu.

Then Jonathan Christie, who played in the third party, managed to bring Indonesia to the lead. The 2018 Asian Games gold medalist came from the failure of the first game to stop Prannoy HS.

Two points after that, Indonesia was pocketed by women's doubles Lanny Tria Mayasari/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti and men's doubles Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin.

Lanny/Fadia beat the couple Priya Konjengbam/Shrutimen, while Fikri/Daniel beat Hariharan A/Ruban Kumar. These two representatives compactly won straight games.

Despite winning over India, Indonesia's position at the top of the group standings was shifted by Denmark, who in another match managed to win 5-0 over England.

Indonesia and Denmark will later meet in the group's final match on Thursday, May 1, 2025. The winner of the match will lock the status of the group winner.
