Back To Third Place After Defeating Ipswich, Newcastle Moves Man City

JAKARTA - Newcastle United returned to third place in the standings by shifting Manchester City after a 3-0 win over Ipswch Town in the English Premier League match at St James' Park Stadium, Saturday, April 26, 2025 evening WIB.

Newcastle showed a revival. After surprisingly losing 4-1 against Aston Villa, they immediately returned to winning ways when they hosted Ipswich.

This is the sixth win of Newcastle's last seven matches in the domestic cometisi. The success of maintaining performance despite losing at Villa Park made Newcastle return to the Champions League zone.

They were ranked third with a pocket of 62 points. Newcastle are one point ahead and at the same time shift Man City who dropped to fourth position. Man City himself had entered the top three after beating Villa 2-1.

Meanwhile, Ipswich, who returned to the Championship because they couldn't get out of the relegation zone, was still ranked 18. They only have 21 points and are 15 points behind West Ham United who are one strip above The Tractor Boys.

In that match, Newcastle appeared dominant over Ipswich. They fully control the game with a ball process reaching 69%.

It's just that The Magpies struggled to penetrate Ipswich's strong defense until finally the visitors lost a player following the expulsion of defender Ben Johnson.

He got two yellow cards in just seven minutes. The last violation was made when he pulled the Alexander Isak striker jersey so that the referee again issued a second yellow card followed by a red card.
