Marc Marquez Needs 25 More Wins To Match Valentino Rossi

JAKARTA Marc Marquez need as many as 25 more wins to match the records of the Italian MotoGP legend, Valentino Rossi.

Marquez has just secured his 90th win in all classes when he finished first at the 2025 Argentine MotoGP at the Termas de Rio Hondo Circuit, Sunday, March 16, 2025.

The victory saw Ducati Lenovo Team's rider sharpen victory to 100 percent this season. He previously also won in the opening series, the Thai Grand Prix.

The results in Argentina made Marquez equal to the record 13 times world champion who also came from Spain, namely Angel Nieto.

Marquez and Nieto are now behind Rossi who is in second place with 115 wins and the leader of the Giacomo Agostini standings who collected 122 wins.

Thus, Marquez now needs 25 more wins to be equal to The Doctor. That number certainly cannot be achieved this season because only 20 series remain.

However, Marquez's chance to be on par with his former rival is wide open. This is supported by impressive performances since with Ducati, which are likely to continue into the following season.

Of all these victories, 64 of them were made by Marquez in the MotoGP class. Rossi has a record of 89 wins in the MotoGP class.

The two wins earlier this season made Marquez now sit comfortably at the top of the drivers' standings with 74 points. He is 16 points ahead of his younger brother, Alex Marqez, in second place.

Marquez is currently the most favorite to come out as world champion this season. He is likely to compete with his younger brother who has so far also impressed.

Currently defending champion Jorge Martin is still out of the race. The Spaniard who defended Aprilia has missed the first two races of the season so his chances of keeping the title running low.
