President Prabowo Inaugurates 17 Simultaneous Indonesian Stadiums

President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated simultaneously 17 stadiums that had been renovated and built (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated 17 stadiums that had been completed and renovated in nine different provinces. The simultaneous inauguration was held at the Gelora Delta Stadium, Sidoarjo, East Java, on Monday, March 17, 2025.

"By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, this afternoon, Monday, March 17, 2025, I Prabowo Subianto, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, inaugurated the renovation and construction of 17 stadiums in Indonesia that have been completed," Prabowo said as quoted from PSSI's statement, Monday, March 17, 2025.

A total of 17 stadiums that were completed and renovated already had international standards and were declared eligible for FIFA.

Prabowo assessed that this step was an achievement from the Seventh President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, who served before him.

Prabowo said football symbolizes the self-esteem of a modern nation. For him, a strong nation is a nation whose people have a strong soul and physical spirit.

"Therefore, sport is one of the benchmarks to assess whether the nation has the spirit or not. Have the will or not. Or give up easily or don't care," he said.

On the other hand, Prabowo mentioned that it is not only the rich people who have a great football team, but many countries in Africa can advance to the World Cup.

"They don't have a field like this well. They are much poorer than us. However, the spirit does not want to lose. This must be a lesson and a thank you for being able to raise the spirits of our children," said Prabowo.
