Sudirman Cup 2025 Draw Results: Indonesia Enters Difficult Groups

Indonesia was in a difficult group at the Sudirman Cup 2025 (doc. BWF).

JAKARTA The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) officially announced the results of the 2025 Sudirman Cup draw. Indonesia is in a fairly difficult group.

The draw for the group stage took place in Xiamen, China, on Thursday, March 13, 2025. Indonesia also occupies Group D with Denmark, India, and England.

On paper, the draw made Indonesia on a difficult road. The reason is, the three countries that are candidates against representatives of the Red and White have top badminton players.

Indonesia itself has the status of the second seed in the event. Tickets to qualify for the Sudirman Cup were obtained by Indonesia after winning the 2025 Badminton Asia Mixed Championship (BAMTC) last February.

In total, there are 16 countries that will compete in the Sudirman Cup 2025. All of them are divided into four groups each containing four countries.

Group A is hosted by Chinese hosts with Thailand, Hong Kong, and Algeria. Then in Group B there are South Korea, China Taipei, Canada, and the Republic of Ceska. Finally, Group C is inhabited by Japan, Malaysia, France, and Australia.

The 2025 Sudirman Cup is scheduled to take place from 27 April 2025 to 4 May 2025 at Fenghuang Gymnasium, Xiamen, China. This year's tournament is the 19th edition since it first took place in 1989.

In the history of the Sudirman Cup, Indonesia has only won once. The only trophy was obtained in the first edition by defeating South Korea at Istora Senayan, Jakarta.
