JAKARTA - Robin van Persie has been appointed head coach of Feyenoord Rotterdam, with contract ties valid until 2027.
The former Arsenal striker and Manchester United will be assisted by assistant coach Rene Hake, who spent the first half of the 2024/2025 season as assistant coach to Erik ten Hague at Manchester United.
"We are delighted to welcome the appointment of Robin van Persie, the real club icon, as Feyennoord's new first team head coach. Robin knows the club very well, and knows exactly what it takes to get (positive) results," said Feyenoord CEO Dennis te Kloese, quoted from the club's official website on Sunday.
"With his international experience, Robin will certainly be able to help our players develop further. His football philosophy fits perfectly with what we're aiming for in Feyenoord: combining attacks and styles of football structured with youth, intensity, and determinacy," he added.
Van Persie scored 46 goals and contributed 16 assists as a player for Feyennoord in two durations of his tenure. He rejoined Feyennoord after briefly coaching another Dutch League team, Heerenveen, who he has coached since July 2024.
