Ducati Uses GP24 Machine In MotoGP 2025

Ducati officially decided to use the GP24 machine in MotoGP 2025 (Instagram/@ducati).

JAKARTA The Ducati manufacturer has officially decided to use the Desmosedici GP24 machine on the Desmosedici GP25 motorcycle in this year's MotoGP race.

The decision was announced by the Italian manufacturer at the end of the second day of the pre-season test which took place at Chang International Circuit, Buriram, Thailand, Thursday, February 13, 2025.

"The engine has been cut off and the engine for the 2025 and 2026 seasons is the 2024 engine," said Ducati Lenovo Team Manager Davide Tardozzi, as reported by Crash.

Thus, the three Ducati drivers, namely Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia from the Lenovo Team and Fabio Di Giannantonio from VR46 will race with engines in 2024.

Ducati was actually so strong throughout the pre-season test. Their new racer Marquez even managed to wipe out the two tests that took place in Thailand.

However, the GP24 engine is considered better than the GP25. That doesn't mean the GP25 performance is bad, but Ducati doesn't have time to develop it because there is an engine freeze in 2026.

Because the risk was too great to do engine homologation for two years, Ducati finally decided their three riders used machines last year.

In addition, Ducati also faces the possibility of starting 2025 with a 2024 chassis and aerodynamic package. They are ready to re-trial this item in the test after the Spanish Grand Prix.

"I think the final decision on fairing and chassis will be made tonight. I think we will postpone the Jerez test."

"We have several new items, we want to test them again," said Tardozzi.

The Ducati GP24 machine is one of the very strong bases after winning 16 of the 20 Grand Prix last year. The results that made the manufacturer win the 2024 MotoGP constructors title.
