Diallo Wins Manchester United, Here's A Message To Young Players

JAKARTA - There is no sky-high praise for Amad Diallo who scored a Manchester United hat trick victory over Southampton. Manager Ruben Amorim only advised the young player to rest during the training holidays and prepare for the next match against Brighton and Hove Albion.

Diallo saved MU, who was 1-0 behind by Manuel Ugarte's own goal in the English Premier League match at Old Trafford Stadium, Friday, January 17, 2025 in the morning WIB. When MU was under pressure because of difficulties in scoring, Diallo managed to break the deadlock in the 82nd minute.

Next, he scored the second goal that made MU turn ahead in the 90th minute. The goal actually brought the Red Devils to three points. But this 22-year-old player is still hungry for goals and added one more to complete the hat-trick that brought MU to a 3-1 win.

The victory made MU improve the rankings. Although still in the middle board, MU began to move away from the relegation zone by placing 12th. They pocketed point 26. The same as West Ham United, but Bruno Fernandes et al were ahead on goal difference.

Responding to the hat trick created by his player, Amorim expressed no particular praise for Diallo. However, in the dressing room, Amorim gave a short message to Diallo.

He was asked to rest immediately because his contribution was still needed by the team for Sunday, January 19, 2025 evening WIB. MU itself only had three days of recovery before returning to play home games by hosting Brighton.

"I didn't talk much to him. I just told him to rest, eat healthy food and get ready for Saturday's game. We need him back," Amorim was quoted as saying by Manchester Evening News.

However, Amorim admits Diallo is showing the best game. But most notably he helped the team win the game.

"He finished the job very well. It was a good moment because at a young age, he scored a hat trick for the team. But he has to stay focused and prepare for the next game," said the former Sporting Lisbon coach.

Amoram said he did not want to overdo giving Diallo praise. He didn't want the players to be complacent. Moreover, Diallo is still young.

"We have to be careful treating young players. Obviously, he played very well and is growing. So, I congratulate him and the team. We enjoyed this victory. But we have to prepare ourselves for the next match," said Amorim.

"The pressure when playing at home is heavier than playing in away matches. The demand to dominate the opponent is greater. So I have to make improvements during training and hope the player has recovered," he said.

"We are tired, but the mind isn't. It's a different game and we have to put more pressure on it," said Amorim again.

Brighton himself impressed in the last match when they beat Ipswich Town 2-0. The victory made Brighton perched in ninth place with 31.
