Good News Barcelona, Dani Olmo Can Appear In The Spanish Super Cup Final

JAKARTA - Barcelona were finally able to field midfielder Dani Olmo and forward Pau Victor in the Spanish Super Cup final. Barca received information that the two players could appear while still on the bus on their way to King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Thursday, January 9, 2025 in the morning WIB.

This notification is a little late because coach Hansi Flick has determined players who enter the starting line up as well as those who sit on the bench in the semifinals of the Spanish Super Cup against Athletic Bilbao.

Without both, Barca still won 2-0 to ensure they qualified for the final against Real Madrid or Mallorca. Barca's goals were produced by Gavi and Lamine Yamal.

Olmo and Victor were only able to return to compete after their registration was approved by the National Sports Council (CSD). Previously, the registration of the two players was not approved by LaLiga because the club failed to meet the requirements for salary restrictions. This failure made Olmo and Victor free of transfer so that they became the hunt for a number of elite European clubs.

Olmo himself could be registered when recruited by Barca for replacing Andreas Christensen, who was injured. But he could only play for half a season. When re-registered, Barca failed to meet the requirements so Olmo and Victor could not enter the team.

Barca then filed an appeal to CSD. The appeal was accepted which made Olmo and Victor able to strengthen the Blaugrana again. They will be played by Flick in the Spanish Super Cup final. This makes Flick optimistic about the match.

"I'm happy with their return. We got that information while on the bus. This is certainly good news. This is also a good sign for the team before the game," Flick was quoted as saying by Football Espana.

"Now, we have one reason to win this game. Of course this is a good signal for us before the final match. We are a team and want to win games for Dani Olmo and Pau Victor and the club," Flick said.

"Of course I am happy with the presence of the two players. I am also satisfied with the team's performance in this match. I don't want to discuss the past. But we just want to focus on the future and their presence really benefits the team," said the former German national team coach.

Olmo and Victor's return was also welcomed by teammates. Gavi, who scored Barca's first goal in the match, also celebrated with a finger movement pointing at the wrist as if checking time on the watch. The goal celebration that became Olmo's trademark.

"I did tell him that I would celebrate like that if I scored a go. I dedicated the goal to him," said Gavi.

"Both Dani and Pau are players who help the team a lot. We are happy that they can play again now," he said.

Meanwhile, Yamal hopes Olmo and Victor can appear in the final match. "We are happy they can play again. I hope they are with us in the final match. If the coaches take them down, they will give everything to the team," said Yamal.
