Experience And Language Are Important Points For Clualverts To Boost The Indonesian National Team

PSSI officially announced Patrick Kluivert as coach of the Indonesian national team on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. He is scheduled to be introduced to the public on January 12, 2025, a day after arriving in the country.

Shortly after he was officially announced as captain of the Garuda Squad, Kluivert underwent a special interview with De Telegraaf.

Patrick Kluivert revealed in the interview that he would bring his experience, either as a player, coach, or a number of other positions while in Europe, to help the Indonesian national team.

"I understand, it is a combination of my experience in the world of football, as well as the desire and quality of leadership that I have."

"In addition, my experience with National Teams such as Curacao and Cameroon, as well as Director of Sports Paris Saint-Germain and Head of Education at the Barcelona Academy," Kluiver told De Telegraaf.

As is known, currently in the Indonesian national team there are many naturalized players from the Netherlands.

"Through the naturalization of European players, Indonesia received extraordinary quality injections. Many Indonesian-Dutch players are now part of the team," said Kluivert.

Judging by the two advantages echoed by Kluiver, it is not surprising that he is confident in setting a target to bring the Indonesian national team to qualify for the 2026 World Cup finals.

Currently, the Garuda Squad is in third place in Group C standings for the Third Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification with six points.

There are still four games left for Kluiver to make this dream come true. Two of them were held in March 2025 and the rest in June 2025.
