Decision Not To Call Jens Raven To The 2024 AFF Cup, Hokky Caraka Becomes A Consideration

JAKARTA - The coach of the Indonesian national team, Shin Tae-yong, apparently has his reasons not to call Jens Raven into the squad ahead of appearing in the 2024 AFF Cup and prefering Hokky Caraka.

According to Sumardji as the manager of the Indonesian national team, this decision was taken by Shin Tae-yong after going through long considerations.

Hokky Caraka was chosen to join the squad because he was considered to have qualified quality and flight hours.

"So, it is also (the decision not to call Jens Raven) has become a discussion. One consideration is in terms of experience and flight hours," Sumardji said in his statement quoted on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.

"The connection with the children who will be deployed in the AFF Cup has indeed been considered. They are more prepared and more confident in taking Hokky Caraka," said the manager.

Sumardji also added that Shin Tae-yong's decision to consider Hokky Caraka more because the PSS Sleman player is not a new figure handled by the South Korean coach.

"Coach Shin Tae-yong sees the potential that exists in Hokky is still much better. Better from the mental side, much better in terms of experience and flight hours."

"Then, the second time flying at the club is also extraordinary, it can be said to be quite good," he said.

Currently, the Indonesian national team is still undergoing a training camp (TC) in Bali in preparation for appearing in the 2024 AFF Cup on December 9, 2024.

Even though it has been running since November 27, 2024, Hokky Caraka is known to only join on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, along with the match-test agenda against Bali United.
