JAKARTA A total of 16 athletes passed the second phase of the National Selection (Selection) from the Executive Board of the Indonesian Archery Association (PB Perpani) to secure a place in the national training camp (pelatnas).

The National Selection organized by PB Perpani together with the Djarum Foundation and Hydroplus Sports Service was held at the Supersoccer Arena, Kudus, Central Java, starting Friday, November 15, 2024, until Sunday, November 17, 2024.

There are as many as 32 of Indonesia's best archery athletes consisting of the 50-meter compound category and 70-meter recurve of women participating in this activity. As a result, as many as eight female athletes and eight male athletes have the right to join the national training.

Chairman of PB Perpani, Arsjad Rasjid, said that this national selection is the last test for athletes before entering the national training gate and being prepared for future multi-branch events.

"We organize this with the hope of creating even higher spirit and motivation for athletes to hone and show their optimal abilities on the field," said Arsjad.

The participants in the second phase of the National Selection were athletes who previously passed the selection in the first stage. They come from various provinces in Indonesia.

Some of them were athletes who defended Indonesia at the 2024 Paris Olympics recently, such as Arif Dwi Pangestu, Diananda Choirunisa, Rezza Octavia, and Syifa Nur Afifah Kamal.

Arsjad said that the closest event these athletes will face is the 2025 SEA Games which will take place in Thailand's three major cities on 9-20 December 2025.

"We hope that the residents of the national training camp will be able to present a victory for Indonesia through this sport," said Arsjad.

One of the female archery athletes who managed to escape the second phase of the national selection and returned to the national training is Diananda Choirunisa.

The athlete from East Java was previously included in the 2024 Paris Olympic contingent.

The Djarum Foundation Sports Service Director Program, Yoppy Rosimin, hopes that athletes who will later join the national training can show their abilities as well as score proud achievements on the world stage.

"Hopefully the involvement of the Djarum Foundation in this screening process can further support and motivate national archery athletes who will compete in the 2025 SEA Games," he said.

In an effort to foster public interest and love for archery, the Djarum Foundation Sports Service previously held a MilkLife Archery Challenge which took place in August 2024.

At that time, there were 357 participants from Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) and Elementary School (SD) from Kudus as well as several surrounding cities taking part in this event.

All of these participants competed in three categories of competitions for both women and men, namely PVC age group (KU) 10, PVC KU-12, and National (Standar Bow) KU-12. In each category there are two match numbers, namely individual complaints and a total team.
