AC Milan Coach Wants To Prove Himself Against Real Madrid

JAKARTA - AC Milan manager Paulo Fonseca insists the Champions League match against Real Madrid will provide a great opportunity to prove their worth in front of some of the world's best players.

Fonseca reviewed the Madrid vs Milan match during a press conference on Monday, November 4, 2024, evening local time.

During his talks with the press, Fonseca also confirmed that Rafael Leao would return to his main line-up after starting three times in Serie A in a row.

He also talked about his respect for Carlo Ancelotti and how El Clasico have helped him prepare for the match later.

Fonseca told the media that Milan players did not need extra motivation ahead of Real Madrid's test.

"A game like this brings a lot of motivation. It's a great opportunity. Real Madrid are favorites to win the Champions League."

"For us, this is an opportunity to prove our value, to face the best players without fear, with courage. We believe we can play well," Fonseca said.

"He (Leao) will play as a starter tomorrow. We hope he is able to do what he usually does."

"I know what matters to me and for the team. It's natural that you talk about this situation, but I have to follow my own beliefs," he said again.

Fonseca also only said good things about Alvaro Morata, who will return to his former club in the match.

He did not doubt the professionalism of the Spanish national team player. Therefore, the 51-year-old coach planned to field Morata from the start.

"Alvaro is a very important player for me. Not only as a player, but also as a professional."

"He was a very, very intelligent player, who played very well. He needed to play. What he did proved decisive for us."
