The Indonesian Baseball National Team Joins The East Asia Baseball Cup 2024

The Indonesian baseball national team was released by Menpora Dito Ariotedjo (doc. Kemenpora).

JAKARTA The Indonesian Men's Baseball National Team participated in the East Asia Baseball Cup 2024 which took place in the Philippines.

The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Dito Ariotedjo, took the group to compete in the event which will be held from October 25, 2024 to November 3, 2024.

Dito hopes that Indonesian baseball will continue to participate and excel in international events so that later they will have the opportunity to penetrate the Olympic stage.

"I appreciate the Baseball national team being able to participate in various international championships as capital to enter the Olympics. Moreover, there are several players who practice in Japan," he said.

The Executive Board of the All-Indonesian Baseball Softball Association (PB Perbasasi) has sent a total of 24 athletes to participate in this prestigious event.

Dito said that the team's participation automatically supports the Government's program which is preparing several sports to qualify for the Olympics according to President Prabowo Subianto's direction.

"We have started preparations from now on. So, I hope Indonesian baseball can enter the Olympics," said Dito, who previously served as Minister of Youth and Sports for 1.5 years in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet in the Joko Widodo era.

The next Olympics will take place in Los Angeles, United States, in 2028. Indonesia went there with a target of getting more than two gold medals.

So far in Olympic history, Indonesia's best achievements at the Olympics are two gold medals on two different occasions, namely at Barcelona 1992 and Paris 2024.
