Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface was involved in a car crash after helping the team win 2-1 over Eintracht Frankfurt.

Boniface, who scored the winning goal in the 72nd minute of the match, shared photos and videos of his car shattered on Sunday, October 20, 2024.

In the deleted upload on Instagram, you can see a photo of his hand covered in blood.

A club source told Reuters Boniface was in good condition after the incident.

German Tabloid Bild reported that the Nigerian national team player was a passenger in the car on his way to Frankfurt airport. He also suffered a minor hand injury before being taken to the hospital.

"God is the greatest," Boniface wrote on his personal X account.

Meanwhile, the official website of the Hessen State Police said the accident occurred on Sunday morning.

"A 28-year-old man was driving a Mercedes in the middle of three lanes towards Frankfurt when, according to his own admission, he lost control of his vehicle due to exhaustion and collided with a truck driving in the right lane next to Mercedes," the Hessen State Police said.

So far, Leverkusen and Boniface have not commented on anything.

23-year-old Boniface has scored seven goals in 10 appearances for Leverkusen in all competitions this season.

Leverkusen, who is now fourth in the Bundesliga standings with 14 points from seven matches, will face French club Brest in the Champions League on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.
