Marc Marquez Hopes Victory At The Australian GP Increases Confidence For The Rest Of The Season

JAKARTA Gresini Racing racer, Marc Marquez, hopes that a brilliant victory at the Australian GP can increase his team's confidence in facing the remaining three grand prix series in the 2024 MotoGP season.

"We had a big race today against Jorge Mart Mari, and it was a lot of fun. This victory is clearly a big boost for our confidence, and we need to keep results like this in the last three races," Marquez was quoted as saying on Gresini Racing's official website on Sunday, October 20.

Marquez managed to finish a full-of-drama race at the Phillip Island Circuit after defeating Prima Pramac racer Jorge Martin in the final lap-lap. Baby Alien Marquez's nickname recorded the fastest time, namely 39 minutes and 47.7 seconds. Jorge Martin finished second, while Ducati Lenovo racer Francesco Bagnaia completed the podium in third place.

Marquez's Flyer And Strategy Incident

Marquez also revealed that his race was interrupted by a unique incident at the start. A large fly got into the visor of his helmet and interfered with his view. To overcome this, the Catalunya racer decided to release his visor to remove the fly.

"I had to take off the visor at the beginning because there was a large fly that made me unable to look forward... After that, everything went smoothly," said Marquez.

After the incident, Marquez managed to keep the pace stable and began to pursue second place. By continuing to pressure Jorge Martin, Marquez realized there was a chance to win when the race was nearing the end.

"I feel like I have quite good speed, and as I get closer to Jorge, I know there is a possibility to win," added the 31-year-old racer.

Wins Three Grand Prixs This Season

The victory at the Australian GP is the third for Marquez in the 2024 MotoGP season, as well as strengthening his position in third place in the standings. Marquez is now collecting a total of 345 points, which further secures his position behind Jorge Martin and Francesco Bagnaia in the race for the world title.

With three races remaining this season, Marquez hopes his winning momentum can continue. Marquez and Gresini Racing team are determined to remain consistent and achieve the best results in the remainder of the series, starting from the Thai GP at the end of October.

The race at the Australian GP also further strengthens Marquez's reputation as one of the most experienced and tough riders on the MotoGP grid, despite the biggest challenges he has faced this season.

"I feel this victory gives us greater confidence to face the next race. We must continue to work hard and focus on achieving better results in the rest of the season," concluded Marquez.
