Asian Zone 2026 World Cup Qualification Results: Competition Is Increasingly Interesting

Jordan displaced Iraq from second place in Group B standings for the 2026 World Cup Qualification (doc. AFC).

JAKARTA - The entire fourth match of the Third Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification was completed on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

The results of the latest duel brought changes in the group standings. Only Group C, which is inhabited by the Indonesian national team, has not changed.

Group A is the most interesting. Iran displaced Uzbekistan from the top of the standings after overthrowing Qatar 4-1.

Uzbekistan actually also won over the United Arab Emirates (1-0). It's just that, Iran's goal difference collection is better.

Competition at the bottom of Group A is also fierce. The meeting of Kyrgyzstan vs North Korea changed the composition of the previous standings.

Kyrgyzstan managed to win 1-0 over North Korea. The result brought them up to fifth in the standings and threw North Korea at the bottom.

Then, the defeats of the United Arab Emirates and Qatar did not disturb their positions. Both remained on the third and fourth stairs.

Shifting to Group B, South Korea managed to strengthen its top position after overthrowing another strong opponent, Iraq, with a score of 3-2.

These results brought Iraq to be evicted from second place in the standings. You see, Jordan successfully won 4-0 against Oman which makes them right under South Korea today.

Then, the lowest three positions did not change. The results of the 2-2 series between Palestine vs Kuwait kept them in fifth and sixth place and below Oman.

The last group aka Group C has not changed in the composition of the standings.

Japan and Australia who met in the fourth match of the group drew 1-1. The win kept them in first and second place in the standings.

Saudi Arabia also drew against Bahrain (0-0) and kept them perched on the third and fourth stairs.

Finally, there is the Indonesian national team visiting China's headquarters. The defeat of the Garuda Squad against Dragon Team 1-2 opens up new competition.

Even though they are still in fifth and sixth place in the standings, they have a chance to displace the teams in their top positions in the following qualifying matches because they are only two points apart.
