JAKARTA - Arsenal striker Kai Havertz is confirmed to be absent from defending the German national team in two games during the October international break due to a knee injury.

"Kai Havertz will miss international matches against Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Netherlands due to knee problems," the German Football Federation (DFB) said on Sunday.

DFB revealed coach Julian Nagelsmann will call Mainz 05 player Jonathan Burkardt, as a substitute for Havertz.

Havertz has performed outstanding well this season by scoring six goals in 10 games for the Gunners in all competitions.

The 25-year-old striker's latest goal came when Arsenal won 3-1 against Southampton on Saturday (5/10).

Cameron Archer put the visitors ahead before Arsenal equalized thanks to Havertz's goal.

Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka made the Gunners turn things around to ensure a 3-1 win over Southampton.

After the match, Havertz picked up a knee injury and Arsenal will check his condition in the coming days.

Germany will play two Nations League matches against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday next week and three days after that.
