2024 Suhandinata Cup: Indonesia Has Prepared A Strategy Against Japan

JAKARTA Indonesia's young badminton squad will use a strategy to install mainstay players in early parties against Japan in the semifinals of the 2024 Mixed Team Junior World Championships or the Suhandinata Cup.

Indonesia reached the semifinals of this tournament after defeating Indonesia 110-92 at the Nanchang International Sports Center Gymnasium, China, on Thursday, October 3, 2024, evening WIB.

The Indonesian team manager, Rionny Mainaky, said that Indonesia would try to keep the distance of points as far as possible at the beginning of the match so that it could win.

"Indeed, ideally, it is to install our mainstays to appear ahead. So, points can be separated first, but don't catch up behind them," he said.

The strategy was used in view of the performance against India. In that match, several Indonesian representatives managed to get pressure from opponents.

Riony said that Indonesia must be even more careful when fighting Japan. In addition, he also emphasized that players should not be nervous and hesitant

"Reflecting on the appearance earlier, the coaching team and I will definitely evaluate it later. Tomorrow against Japan we will prepare the best strategy. From the strength, we can see that (when Japan) is against the United States they are busy," said Rionny.

Rionny also advised Indonesian representatives to maintain their enthusiasm, courage, and mentality. Factors like this will be very decisive on the field.

"In addition, I emphasize that playing defensively is a bit risky with short games like this. So, you have to attack first. Some of our players try to change the pattern a little bit not to play passively," he said.

The match between Indonesia and Japan is scheduled to take place on Friday, October 4, 2024. The match will start at 16.00 local time.
