JAKARTA The Danish mixed doubles specialist, Mathias Christiansen, has been banned from competing in international events for one year by the Danish Sports Federation's Doping Board.

The player, who is paired with Alexandra Boje, received the punishment for being negligent in reporting his whereabouts to the anti-doping agency in his country.

Christiansen said that he had no intention of making the mistake at all so that the one-year sentence to be served was quite reasonable.

"I'm happy that now there is clarification on this issue and that I have been given a minimum sentence of maybe what I can get," Christiansen said as quoted from the BWF website.

According to reports, Christiansen is said to have not reported its location via Whereabouts. It is a form used to determine the whereabouts of athletes for doping test purposes at any time.

The form must be regularly filled by athletes every day within a certain period of time. However, Christiansen even made three mistakes within one year so he had to accept the sentence.

Christiansen will serve the sentence until July 21, 2025. To anticipate the sentence, he also started practicing privately at the Yonex Peter Gade Academy.

Danish Badminton Manager, Jens Meibom, said that it was unfortunate that the sentence had to be served by Christiansen. However, he respects the enforcement of this rule.

"We are pleased that Mathias has now received clarification and is fully involved in training. We are of course still ready to welcome him back to training for the national team when the quarantine period is over," he said.

The same problem previously made Christiansen have to resign from the 2024 Paris Olympics. At that time, he failed to fill out the form every day for three months before the Olympics.
